Living Donor Liver Transplant in Noida
In India, most liver transplants use a portion of liver donated by a healthy family member. The donor's liver regrows within weeks and the recipient receives a healthy graft without waiting on a deceased donor list. Donor evaluation
Blood group compatibility, liver function tests, CT volumetry and vascular mapping, MRI for bile duct anatomy, cardiac and psychological assessment, and mandatory authorisation committee clearance under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act.
The operation
Donor and recipient are operated in parallel theatres. Right lobe (adult recipient) or left lateral segment (child) is removed from the donor — laparoscopically or robotically in suitable donors — and implanted with meticulous vascular and biliary reconstruction.
Recovery and follow-up
Donor: 5–7 days in hospital, normal activity in 4–6 weeks, full liver regeneration by 8 weeks. Recipient: 2–3 weeks in hospital, immunosuppressant medicines, regular follow-up at the Noida hospital or Indirapuram clinic.

Questions about living donor liver transplant
Is liver donation dangerous for the donor?
Donor surgery is major surgery but with a well-established safety record at high-volume centres. Long-term liver function returns to normal and donors lead a completely normal life.
Can a different blood group donate?
ABO-incompatible liver transplant is possible with special preparation (desensitisation). Dr Gupta will discuss whether this is suitable.
Who cannot donate?
People with hepatitis B/C, fatty liver beyond a limit, significant heart or lung disease, or those donating under pressure.
