Fibroscan

Fibroscan

FibroScan Testing is a recently FDA-approved non-invasive diagnostic device used to measure liver scarring or fibrosis caused by a number of liver diseases. Similar to undergoing a conventional liver ultrasound exam, outpatient FibroScan testing is quick, painless, easy, and provides a non-surgical alternative to the traditional liver biopsy to assess liver damage.

How is it done ?

Fibroscan takes about 5 minutes to complete, and it is not painful.
Some gel will be placed on your skin, between your ribs on your right side.
A small probe will then be gently moved across your skin to analyze whether there is any fibrosis in your liver.

Fibroscan is done if you have following conditions
• Fatty liver
• Chronic alcohol abuse
• Long standing diabetes
• Deranged lipid profile
• Recurrent jaundice
• Hepatitis b / hepatitis c
• Obesity
